nouna plant with complex flowers that are typically showy or bizarrely shaped, having a large specialized lip (labellum) and frequently a spur. Orchids occur worldwide, esp. as epiphytes in tropical forests, and are valuable hothouse plants.
My father and myself have spent the last 6 weeks observing my orchid. We debated on who is giving it more love and with great expectation we have been anticipating the opening of the first budding flower. Each morning we race to see it and inform each other on what has happened overnight. Dad has an awesome greenhouse where "Lisa" hangs out making each day exciting and today she began to open her first flower. Below is an image of her revealing the beauty of God in His creation. From this morning to later this afternoon she fully revealed her splendour! Both dad and I are extremely blown away by its beauty and how long it took to bloom!

On a photography note comparing the two images with the settings I realise I need to pay more attention to my white balance (WB). Measuring the light is key to photography! The second image is by far better than first in terms of colour and composition. By nudging up the f stop I also achieved a better focus for the overall image. Will add more images as Lisa blooms further.

  1. Long live Lisa, she is such a beauty, you should send Eike a picture so he can see how well she is doing.
